Of all the topics to choose from in my Composition class, I once again am back on Factory Farming. I am not a vegetarian, but I am an animal lover. I am putting my feelings aside this time, rehearsing my Serenity Prayer, and focusing on the health concerns rather than the inhumane aspect if; I truly am empathetic about the growing health concerns. So I ask myself one again, why am I back here? The hardening fact is that misinformation in very unsettling to me, and I personally do not like the twisted truth. Another maddening aspect is the amount of grocery stores in America. Within a 3 mile radius of my home in California, not only are there 20 different grocery store chains, there are numerous duplicates. Where is all this food coming from and what the heck is in it? When I say food I mean digestible consumable ingredient including chips, candy, mystery sandwiches, drinks.....oh my gosh...lets not forget all the fast food places! Now...do you get my drift?
What ever happen to home made, from the farm to the table?
Hello Sizanne,
ReplyDeleteYou speak the truth it is amazing how much ingredients is in one thing and a lot of it is not good. Homemade does taste better than all the processed foods. Although I think that we all have gotten lazy and just want someone else to make our food or were just wants a quick bite to eat because, everyone works late and does not want to cook late at night.
We have truly become a society of convenience. Yet the best meals are the ones home-cooked. My older daughter loves to cook and has learned alot. My younger daughter is learning that fast food is not always best. Now if I can just get her to learn to cook a bit more... :)
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more about about a becoming a society of convience. I am glad that your older daughter love to cook. Matter of fact I have a little friend coming over this Saturday and we are going to make homemde apple pie and chicken enchiladas. I have 2 girls that are not mine and they love getting together with me and bake. I share my secrets with them. Well have a great week
ReplyDeleteHello Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteI just read an article in TIME magazine that was intersting to me because I too think now more about what we eat. With all of our health issues, even though there are several factors for them, food is one of the reasons. That is why I want to go into Health and Wellness once I get this degree because it will help me understand the many things we can do for our health. Not only food, but exercise will help too. I also am interested in our minds and how learning how to deal with things affects our health. If you would like to know more about the article and in which issue I will be glad to give that to you. It is about organic food verses conventional. Have a blessed day.
